The HBCT Master Plan reimagines the entirety of the existing industrial port, including the Hutchison Busan Container Terminal, as a new center for the vibrant culture of Busan.
The advent of containerized shipping has made Busan a prosperous global city and center of international maritime trade. Relocating HBCT container shipping operations will allow Busan, currently the fifth busiest seaport in the world, to maintain commercial vitality and competitiveness while creating new opportunities for future development. A new mixed-use development anchoring the waterfront of North Port will serve future generations of both residents and visitors, strengthening the symbolic maritime entrance to South Korea.
