This study explores a new public space performance measure to quantify the intensity of social activities using automated pedestrian counting in Dilworth Park, Philadelphia. This study found that specific quantitative measurements such as walking counts and the correlation between entry and exit, entry-exit correlation (EEC), are related to how much public space is activated. Computer vision was used to collect the automated pedestrian walk data. Comparing EEC, social activities in the park are documented by participant observation. For statistical analysis, this study adopts the bootstrapping method to test the correlation between EEC and the intensity of social activities in the park.
